Excellent Oktoberfest Run for Jim
Sauter, Jr.
Tomah, WI (10/6/2014)- With his own team and after
running in a just a handful of shows this season,
Jim Sauter, Jr. of Tomah, WI headed to LaCrosse
Fairgrounds Speedway for the 45th running
of their annual “Oktoberfest”. The popular October
weekend event is capped off with a 200-lap showdown
for the
ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment.
No one seemed a bit surprised that the Sauter name
was up front all day and in the end, Jim Sauter, Jr.
finished in the seventh spot behind his brother Tim,
and nephew, Travis Sauter, who finished sixth and
first respectively.
Following a 14th place qualifying effort
on Saturday, J. Sauter lined up in the 14th
spot for the 15-lap “Fast Dash”. He drove his way
toward the
front to finish fifth, which dictated where he would
start in the 200-lap main on Sunday.
J. Sauter patiently worked toward the front and
drove up as high as third at one point. He drifted
back to sixth prior to the halfway break and when
green flag racing resumed he remained in the top ten
and crossed the stripe with a seventh place finish.
“Thanks to all of my crew and sponsors, especially
Willie May”, noted J. Sauter, who made his very
first 200 start.
“We made a wedge adjustment at the halfway break and
went in the wrong direction. But I couldn’t be more
pleased with our run in only the fourth start this
season. This is definitely my favorite race to
date.”
The
weekend was filled with cold temperatures and even
snow flurries, which didn’t seem to phase any of the
racers and their loyal fans. Ironically, Sauter’s
#45 Super Late Model, was named “Elsa” by his oldest
daughter and the faithful Frozen ride held up to her
name.
Although a win would have made the 2014 season one
to remember for Jim Sauter, Jr., he’s happy to be
able what he and his family have done for decades-
be surrounded by good people and be successful at
area short tracks around the region and nation.
Jim Sauter, Jr. Ready and Set to Go to Oktoberfest
Tomah, WI (9/27/2014)- Aside from starting his own
team and even with
a late start to the 2014 Super Late Model racing
season, Jim Sauter, Jr. of Tomah, WI is ready and
set to make a go at it for the 45th
annual running of Oktoberfest at LaCrosse
Fairgrounds Speedway at the beginning of October.
“We had some really great runs there in the past and
I can’t be more proud of my team after such a late
start to this season”, noted the former Marshfield
Motor Speedway and Golden Sands Speedway track
champion.
“We started a new team this season and we built our
Howe chassis from the ground up. It took time, but
it’s right; just needs some tweaking and hopefully
we’ll be in good shape. This race is always a great
time and I’m looking forward to my crew, family and
friends to spend some well deserved time together”,
he noted.
The most recent Sauter to win at one of the biggest
racing events of the year in the Midwest was Jim’s
nephew Travis, who went to victory lane in 2012. The
following year was a hard fought duel between his
brother Johnny and Travis, which ended with contact
during hard racing.
The Sauter family win just wasn’t meant to be.
However, if the victory that Jim Jr. is hoping for
doesn’t happen in this famed showdown, he’d be
happy with an
uneventful day and if all goes well,
bring his car home in one piece with a top ten
finish for all of his supporters and sponsors, which
include Don’s Auto Truck Center, Davis Auto Sales,
Sauter Floor Covering, Gawronski Signs, Dean’s
Satellite and Security, Global Cleaning Service,
Shawn Rentmeester Trucking, Sheer Bliss Indoor
Beach, Next Generation Tattoo, Wounded Warrior
Project, Highline Motorsports and Tyler Jett
Motorsports Marketing.
Now focused on Oktoberfest, which features four
straight days of racing from October 2-5, Sauter is
ready to do what he does best- work on and race in
automobiles.
Jim Sauter, Jr. Earns Hard Fought Sixth Place
Finish in Marshfield Finale
Tomah,
WI (9/17/2014)- Jim Sauter, Jr. of Tomah, WI had
high hopes of earning a strong finish and possibly
his first win of the season last Sunday at
Marshfield Motor Speedway. However, from unloading
the car to the finish of the event, the day for
Sauter and his team was a struggle. Yet he still
netted a solid sixth place effort in the Yellow
River Racing Series Super Late Model main event.
“We’ve only run a handful of shows this season and
we’re all working very hard on figuring out the new
car”, noted a frustrated Sauter after Sunday’s show.
“I really thought that today was going to bring this
car to victory lane for the first time, along with
this brand new race team. It just seemed like the
car really hated stickers (tires) for some reason
and my guys and I tried to wrap our heads around it.
We made it better, but not great and the end results
shows.”
Despite a having a solid run behind eventual winner
Skylar Holzhausen,
Sauter should still be proud, as he only has one
finish this season outside of the top ten.
Ironically, that finish took place in his very first
race with the new car and the results have been
improving since.
Sauter is now focused on “Oktoberfest” at LaCrosse
Fairgrounds Speedway in Wisconsin. The popular event
features four straight days of racing and it’s
scheduled to run from October 2-5.

Jim Sauter, Jr. Earns Best Finish of the Season at
Marshfield
Tomah, WI (9/7/2014)- Jim Sauter, Jr. of Tomah, WI
started in the ninth spot Saturday night in the
100-lap main event at Marshfield Motor Speedway in
Marshfield, WI. In no time at all he jumped into the
race lead and then burned up the right rear tire en
route to a fifth place finish, which is his best of
the season thus far.
Sauter timed fourth quickest to start off the
evening. He began the feature in ninth and then
raced into the lead, which is the spot that he held
at the halfway break.
Knowing that he might have used up his tires a
little early on, Sauter remained confident for the
second half of the race but did lose the lead and
then fell back to fifth, which is where he finished.
“I’m proud of my guys and my wife,
Katie”, noted Sauter. “I couldn't do this without
them and of course all my fine sponsors, which
include Don’s
Auto Truck Center, Davis Auto Sales, Sauter Floor
Covering, Gawronski Signs, Dean’s Satellite and
Security, Global Cleaning Service, Shawn Rentmeester
Trucking, Sheer Bliss Indoor Beach, Next Generation
Tattoo, Wounded Warrior Project, Highline
Motorsports and Tyler Jett Motorsports Marketing.
“We had a great car but I just burned off the right
rear- I’ll just have to buy myself a trophy”, he
said jokingly.
Jim Sauter, Jr. Finishes 10th in First
ARCA Midwest Start of the Season
Tomah, W
(8/12/2014)- Straight out of Tomah, WI, Jim Sauter,
Jr, his crew and family headed to Wisconsin
International Raceway last Saturday to compete in
the Calypso Lemonade 100, which mark’s Sauter’s
first start of the season in the ARCA Midwest Tour
presented by Scag Power Equipment.
J. Sauter, Jr. timed tenth quickest and then
finished as the runner up in his qualifier. After
biding his time and trying to adjust his driving to
compensate for a bad shock choice in the feature,
while trying to chase down his bother, Johnny Sauter
and his nephew, Travis Sauter, J. Sauter, Jr.
finished out the single caution flag event in the
tenth spot.
Johnny Sauter claimed the victory over T. Sauter.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for all of their
support this season”, noted J. Sauter, Jr, following
his second start of the season.
“Being I that I have a brand new car I’m happy with results, but
know that we’re way better then what the results
show. We just need to get the car tweaked. With two
races into this season we all have lots of ideas and
this was another a great test for the team and I.”
J. Sauter, Jr. openly admits that he wouldn’t event
be behind the wheel of his own car this season if it
wasn’t for his supportive family, great crew,
sponsors and supporters. Some of which include Don’s
Auto Truck Center, Davis Auto Sales, Sauter Floor
Covering, Gawronski Signs, Dean’s Satellite and
Security, Global Cleaning Service, Shawn Rentmeester
Trucking, Sheer Bliss Indoor Beach, Next Generation
Tattoo, Wounded Warrior Project, Highline
Motorsports and Tyler Jett Motorsports Marketing.
